ABSTRACT:Déjà vu is a common psychological experience in which a person feels that a present situation has been experienced before. This study, “The Science Behind Déjà Vu,” aims to understand the phenomenon from psychological, neurological, and cognitive perspectives, with a focus on memory, familiarity, perception, and brain functioning. The study uses both primary and secondary data, with primary data collected through a Google Forms questionnaire and secondary data obtained from research papers and reliable psychological and neuroscience sources. The findings show that 83.3% of respondents had experienced déjà vu, while 44.4% associated it with memory processes and 66.7% considered it a normal psychological phenomenon. Overall, the study supports the scientific view that déjà vu is mainly related to normal cognitive and memory processes rather than supernatural causes. It also highlights the need for greater public awareness and further research into the relationship between déjà vu, memory, perception, and brain function.
