ABSTRACT:This study examines the effects of layoffs in Information Technology companies on the job security perception and psychological well-being of graduates, in India. This research intends to investigate how layoff of companies influences the job security perception of graduates, the level of stress among graduates and their career perceptions. The methodology employed for the study is based on a survey questionnaire distributed to respondents via google form and literature review of scholarly articles, industry reports and news articles. From the data obtained, it has been found that majority of the respondents feel stressed and insecure in their jobs due to layoffs in the Information Technology sector. Furthermore, graduates have developed an inclination towards job security as compared to high pay packages. The paper concludes by suggesting that companies should support graduates in handling the stress caused by layoffs so that stable workforces can be built up in dynamic Information Technology sector.
