Abstract :
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the cybersecurity landscape, not only by enhancing defense mechanisms but also by empowering attackers with unprecedented capabilities. This paper explores the dual role of AI in cybersecurity, focusing on how malicious actors exploit AI to launch sophisticated, scalable, and adaptive attacks. Drawing on recent case studies and emerging research, it examines threat vectors such as AI-enhanced phishing, deepfakes, prompt injection, and autonomous LLM-driven exploits. It further analyzessystemic vulnerabilitiesin AIsystems, the ethical and regulatory challenges, and outlines strategies to harness AI defensively. The paper argues that in the evolving digital arms race, AI must function as both the weapon and the shield.
