ABSTRACT:The rapid growth of technology and changing industry requirements have created a skills gap among students, job seekers, and recruiters. Individuals may find it difficult to identify their skill gaps, suitable career options, job-market requirements, and priority areas for development. Existing career guidance systems often provide generalized recommendations without relating an individual's resume, skills, and abilities to specific roles and skill requirements. This research proposes AI SkillGap Navigator, an AI-based career guidance and skill-gap analysis system that uses an individual's resume to provide career suggestions based on existing and required skills. AI and NLP are used to analyze resumes and extract education, work experience, projects, certifications, and technical skills. These skills are compared with job-role requirements to identify skill gaps and competency alignment. The proposed system provides career recommendations and roadmaps, project and learning recommendations, resume employability and ATS analysis, interview guidance, and an AI career chatbot. The research follows a sequential approach involving requirement analysis, literature review, survey and analysis, system design, and evaluation. A preliminary survey identifies user needs and expectations. The proposed system analyzes resumes, performs skill-gap analysis, and provides tailored career options, learning roadmaps, and required-skill recommendations. The study also considers challenges including resumeextraction accuracy, differences in job-description structure, semantic interpretation, and the need for thorough system evaluation.
