Abstract :
Multitasking has become a central part of modern life where individuals often switch between different applications, platforms, and responsibilities in quick succession. While it is widely believed that multitasking improves efficiency, research shows that it also carries significant limitations. This paper explores the cognitive challenges of multitasking, highlights real-life examples such as students balancing academic work with digital distractions, and provides evidence from a comparative study on single-tasking versus multitasking. It emphasizes that multitasking is not inherently harmful but has constraints that reduce efficiency, accuracy, and mental well-being when not managed carefully.
