ABSTRACT: The use of digital technology tools for educational purposes has also undergoes speedy development. There are many changes that have emerged as a result of the use of digital technology tools in educational institutions. One such change is towards paperless education. The current trend among students indicates that they rely on mobile devices, notebooks, online notes, e-book technology, and various digital platforms for attending lectures, writing notes, performing assignment work, and even for the submission of assignments. The study will try to investigate the effect of paperless education on college-going students. The study is based on the primary data collected from students through a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire covered questions on the usage of digital devices, preference for learning through digital resources, methods of assignment submittal, and students’ perceptions on paperless learning environments. The data collected was analyzed through simple percentage techniques to assess overall trends and values. The scope of the study is based on changes in learning habits, ease of access to learning resources, simplicity and effectiveness of learning processes, and awareness on benefits to the environment. The findings obtained from the research clarify that paperless learning has resulted in positive modifications in academic habits for students. The majority of the students have shown a preference for digital learning materials, which can be easily accessed, transported, and stored. Electronic submission of assignments has allowed students to save time and manage their academic tasks efficiently. The students feel that paperless learning conserves paper, promoting environmental conservation. Contrary to this, the research highlights some difficulties experienced by the students, such as internet connectivity problems and the requirement to have essential digital literacy. Despite the difficulties mentioned above, the students demonstrate a positive attitude towards paperless learning. The research concludes that paperless learning has a big effect on the academic activities of students and can be implemented to develop the learning process by providing adequate digital infrastructure.
