ABSTRACT: Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an important part of the modern workplace and is changing how many tasks are performed. As AI tools become more capable of handling tasks such as writing, research, documentation, and data analysis, there are growing concerns about their effect on entry-level jobs. This research examines how the increasing use of generative AI is affecting entry-level employment, particularly the opportunities available to graduates who are entering the workforce for the first time. Entry-level jobs have traditionally helped young employees gain practical experience, develop professional skills, and understand workplace practices. However, as some of these tasks are increasingly handled by AI, graduates may have fewer opportunities to gain this early work experience. The study also looks at whether the use of AI could affect the development of skills that are normally gained during the early stages of a career. To examine these issues, the research uses a mixed-method approach that combines quantitative labour market data with qualitative insights from human resource professionals and recent graduates. By considering both employment trends and the experiences of people involved in the early stages of employment, the study aims to develop a better understanding of how generative AI is changing entry-level work and what these changes may mean for graduates and their future careers.
