Abstract :This research paper presents a critical analysis of realistic expressions of rural life in Indian sculpture. Rural life has played a significant role in the cultural and social diversity of Indian society, and sculptors across different historical periods have vividly represented it through their art. This study analyzes the depiction of rural life in sculpture from ancient to contemporary times, focusing on themes such as agricultural activities, folk dances, family life, religious rituals, and social structures.

From the perspective of realism, the study demonstrates that sculptors have not limited themselves to mere visual representation but have also subtly captured the emotional, social, and cultural dimensions of rural life. The research further highlights how sculpture has artistically rendered the lifestyle, struggles, and aesthetic sensibilities of rural India, making them vivid and enduring. The findings underscore a tradition in Indian sculpture that portrays rural life with a realistic and sensitive approach.
