ABSTRACT
लघुकथा लेखन साहित्य की एक शैली है जो अपने विशिष्ट गद्य और संक्षिप्तता के लिए जानी जाती है। यह अपने अन्य साहित्यिक समकक्षों जैसे कि उपन्यास की तुलना में काफी छोटी होती है। हिंदी लघुकथा की प्रस्तुति की शुरुआत सरस्वती (1916) में प्रकाशित पंडितलाल गुप्तलाल बख्शी की कथा – “सत्य का प्रयोग” से मानी जाती है। तत्पश्चात इसका सर्वप्रथम विश्वव्यापी (सं. जगदीश बत्रा) में इसका पुनःप्रकाशन हुआ। बाद में इसके कुछ और लेखकों ने भी इसे लोकप्रिय बनाया। हिंदी लघुकथा” शिखर तले की कहानियों के लघुकथा विशेषांक में प्रकाशित किया। उन्नीसवीं सदी के दूसरे दशक के उत्तरार्द्ध में आते–आते लघुकथा नई विधा नहीं रह गई है।

ABSTRACT
Short story writing is a genre of literature known for its distinctive prose and brevity. It is much shorter than its other literary counterparts such as the novel. The beginning of the presentation of the Hindi short story is considered to be the story of Panditlal Guptlal Bakshi published in Saraswati (1916) - "The Use of Truth." It was subsequently republished in the first worldwide edition (S. Jagdish Batra). Later, it was popularized by some other authors. The Hindi short story was published in the short story special of the stories of Shikhar Tale. By the second half of the nineteenth century, the short story was no longer a new genre.
